Horse riding tours in Alsace, vineyards and traditional culture - Ride in France

In a very green setting, in the heart of the famous vineyards of Alsace you will ride during a week, from the banks of the Rhine to the vineyards, to the Vosges and the mythical village of Riquewihr, discovering the beautiful landscapes and the high quality of Alsatian life.

One day will also be dedicated to an incursion into the near and yet so different Germany, in the region of the Kaiserstuhl...

The rhythm of the ride is quick and sportive, with some days up to 8 hours in the saddle.

RIDE ITINERARY

Day 1 - Sunday

Arrival and dinner on the Rhine Island of Vogelgrun at the « Le Caballin » hotel at 8.00 pm.

During dinner, the guide will give explanations on the ride and the horses. Night at the hotel.

Day 2 - Monday

This morning we follow the banks of the Rhine for some kilometers so that horses and riders get used to each other before reaching the Alsace plain which will take us westwards to the Bollenberg. Tonight we stay in a nice hotel in Rouffach where we will have a tasting of Alsatian wine. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 3 - Tuesday

The scenery today will quickly change, we will leave the plain behind and reach the wineyards of the Vosges passing near by the "Petit Ballon". We will cross Wasserbourg and then head down towards Munster, through one of the most beautiful valleys of the Vosges, before riding up again to Hohrodbergh where we will spend the next 2 nights and enjoy the superb view over the valley and the Vosges.

Day 4 - Wednesday

Today will be a round trip in the mountains and we will climb up to 1300 meters altitude at the highest point. We will ride on top of the hills that we saw the day before and pass by the “White lake” and the “Black lake”. In the evening, we will go back to the hotel in Munster for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 - Thursday

We will leave the Vosges and go back to the wine region where we will have the pleasure to visit two of the most beautiful towns in Alsace : Kaysersberg and Riquewihr. We will spend the night in a hotel in Thannenkirch.

Day 6 - Friday

We will start the day by climbing to the famous "Haut Kœnigsbourg" where we will discover an exceptional view of the wineyards and the Alsatian plains. Long canters will allow us to reach, before the night, the country inn situated on the other bank of the Rhine in Germany. Dinner and night.

Day 7 - Saturday

Visit of the volcanic Kaiserstuhl region covered with forests, wine- and orchyards situated between the Rhine and the Black Forest. At the end of the day we will cross the river again to finish the ride in Neuf-Brisach, city built by Vauban. Night at the hotel in Vogelgrun on the Rhine Island.

Horse riding tours in Alsace, vineyards and traditional culture - Ride in France

Horses
Most of them are born at the riding centre of a pinto stallion. They work all year round in all disciplines (Dressage, jumping, trail riding).

Tack
Trail ride or western saddles with saddle bags. Please indicate upon reservation your preference.

We ask you to brush, saddle and unsaddle your horse during the ride.

Riding experience
As the days on horseback are very long, riders need to be comfortable at all paces. We do not accept beginners and it is very important to be in good physical condition and already have a good experience of trail riding. 5 to 8 hours in the saddle and 40 to 50km per day.

Our horses are easy to ride. They are in great shape and they go anywhere. They are able to canter long distances whilst in the plains and easily climb up the mountains.

This endurance ride requires to be able to make long trots and long canters (canters downhills).

We reserve the right to refuse any rider who does not have sufficient riding abilities. In that case, the trail will not be refundable.

Maximum weight: 100 kg (220 pound)
