In summer period, we suggest you two full week itineraries through the differents area of Jura : Revermont, vineyards, lakes, high Jura. You can also combine the 2 weeks trails in order to leave for a 14 days horse riding adventure !
During spring and autumn, we offer you the chance to leave for a short 2 days weekend, or for a long weekend on horseback (maximum 5 days).
These trails are 2 to 14 days long, so you can easily discover
Paris or the Loire Valley before or after your ride.
This full week trail will make you discover the numerous and varied landscapes of Jura, his vineyards, his castle and abbey, his waterfalls... You'll cross over mysterious forests, beautiful and steep-sided valleys to reach the lakes area with rivers and waterfalls.... You'll next arrive closer to the mountains and will join the High Jura with its authentic landscapes, its open and untouched nature.
This trail will also make you discover the delicious local gastronomy...
Day 1 : Sunday
Meeting to Lavigny guesthouse at 8.30 (possibility to arrive one day before and spend the night in a very close guesthouse). After giving you the horse you'll ride during this week, we leave for our first day ride. We first cross the vineyards of "Côtes du Jura", and the first plateau before to follow the "Banger way", which is and old and disued railway. Picnic stop in the nature and in the afternoon, we pass the coomb of Ain before to arrive to Boissia where we stop for the night.
Day 2 : Monday
Today, we leave in Saint Maurice direction. our itinerary use a track in the lake area, so we discover the beautiful lakes of Clairvaux and Etival. We see our first steep-sided valley called "Reculée de la Frasnée". Picnic at lunch time and overnight in guesthouse.
Day 3 : Tuesday
This morning, our horses lead us to the Prés Castle, our evening stop. We cross the mountains of Tremontagne, and then the superb Grandvaux valley before to follow the Abbey lake.
Day 4 : Wednesday
We ride through the Bienne valley. We follow the track to the Vaucluse cirque and the Tendue pass. At the end of the day, we join Septmoncel where we have dinner and night.
Day 5 : Thursday
Our adventure continue today, we reach Bellecombe and next go to the Grand Molunes and the Nerbier pass before to stop for the night.
Day 6 : Friday For this last day, we ride through the Valserine valley and the Natural Reserve of High Jura. We discover there one of the most beautiful peak of the Jura. We next join La Borne au Lion, to reach late afternoon La Pesse. Dinner and night in guesthouse.
Day 7 : Saturday
Departure of riders after breakfast.
FROM MOUNTAINS TO VINEYARDS(7 days)
You'll ride this itinerary in the opposite direction than the previous one, but by different ways. You'll start from the Natural reserve of High Jura, to reach after 6 days on horseback the traditional well-known Jura with its vineyard area, Revermont, lakes and waterfalls.
Day 1 : Sunday
Meeting to Lavigny guesthouse at 8.30 (possibility to arrive one day before and spend the night in a very close guesthouse) and transfer to the departure point in La Pesse where we find our horses. We start this first day in direction of Bellecombe through the Chalam ridge. We next pass hte Nerbier ridge before to join Closettes coomb at the end of the day. Dinner and night in guesthouse.
Day 2 : Monday
We start our day ride by a beautiful track in direction of Prémanon. We pass the Hautes Combes, the massacre forest before to arrive to Pela ridge late afternoon. Dinner and night in guesthouse.
Day 3 : Tuesday
This morning, our horses lead us until the Rousses lake. Next, we cross the huge forests of Risoux and Montnoir. Late afternoon, we arrive to the lake of "Rouge Truites".
Day 4 : Wednesday
Today, we visit the lakes area by crossing the Saine valley, Mavaux gorges, Langouette waterfalls to end with the 4 lakes of Le Frasnois.
Day 5 : Thurday
We continue our ride to join Saint Lothain tonight. We have a very nice ride through the coomb of Ain before to arrive on the first plateau.
Day 6 : Friday
Fro this last day on horseback, we discover the best kept secrets of Jura : the vineyards of "Côtes du Jura", Chalon castle, the steep-sided valley of Baumes les Messieurs with his abbey. At the end of the day, we arrive in Lavigny for the dinner and the night.
Day 7 : Saturday
Departure of riders after breakfast.
COMBINATION VINEYARDS AND MOUNTAINS (14 days)
It's possible to combine the 2 previous itineraries to leave for a beautiful and varied 14 days trail on horseback including 12 days on horseback (Saturday will be a day off for horses and riders).
This is a wonderful adventurous and varied ride which will make you discover all secrets of the Jura's mountains...
SPRING AND AUTUMN SHORT TRAILS (2 to 5 days)
The itineraries on all the short or long weekends is not fixed before departure. It can vary depending to the weather, the accessibility of tracks, the availbility of accommodations and our guide mood !
5 days/ 4 nights or 4 days / 3 nights or 3 days / 2 nights
or 2 days / 1 night We suggest you 2, 3, 4 or 5 days touring holiday on horseback to discover the famous lakes area, the Revermont, the Jura's vineyards, the beautiful villages with its abbeys and castles, the steep-sided valleys and the Natural Reserve of High Jura.
The meeting point is given on day one at 8.30am directly to the riding center. The departure rider is plan on last day from 5.30pm. You'll use parts of the above itineraries.
if you arrive by train, you've the possibility to arrive the evening before departure and book one night in a guesthouselocated close to the riding center. It's also possible to book one night after the ride. Please advice us at booking time.
We include transfers from and to the train station called "La Chaux des Crotenay".
HORSES, TACK AND RIDING EXPERIENCE
Horses
The ranch owns 15 horses, mainly appaloosas
and spanish horses, as well as a few Haflingers and Hensons horses.
Tack
The saddles are MacLellan and classical French trail saddles.
Riding experience
Riders have to be confident at all gaits, aged 16 and more, or 14
if children are with their parents.
Max weight : 95kg.Wearing a riding hat is highly recommanded.

ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation
Guesthouses and refuges. Rooms from 3 to 10 people.
We guarantee you every night a confortable bed with hot shower and toilets. The guesthouse provide blankets, but you have to take your own sheet or sleeping bag.
Meals
Every morning, you'll leave with the picnic in your saddle bags (saddle bags provided). And picnic lunch will be take in nice places along the ride. Succulent and traditionnal dinners will be served at the accommodation. Breakfast are also included.

MEETING POINT
Summer trails : The meeting point is given to Lavigny Guesthouse. If you arrive by train, we will organize you transfers from and to "Lons le Saunier" train station (free transfers). In that last case, you have to plan an extra night before departure. Spring and Autumn short trails : The meeting point is directly to the riding center at 8.30am. If you arrive by train, we will oragnize you transfers from and to the SNCF train station called
"La Chaux des Crotenay" (free transfers). In that last case, you have to plan an extra night before departure.
CLIMATE
In summer, temperatures are usually warm, fresh in forests
and at high altitude. We will provide you an equipment list before departure.
HEALTH
There are no specific health formalities and emergency medical treatment is as widely available in the country.
ENTRY FORMALITIES
A valid passport is required of all foreigners entering France, except people living from a Schengen agreement country for who a valid ID card is enough.
All foreign citizens who wish to come to France must be able to present regulatory proof of the purpose of their stay, means of support and accommodation. In some cases, they need a visa to enter France. Visas must be applied for before leaving for France at a French consular office.
France is a member of European Union. No visa is required for citizens of other EU states.
No visa is required for US visitors staying less than 3 months.
