It's an exhilarating trail, with lot of thrilling sceneries over wild valleys framed by rugged peaks as eagles and vultures soar over your head.

After 4 days in the mountain, far away from the civilization, taking advantage of all the opportunities to get close to wild horses herds and discovering the local culture and its particularities, we finally take the road to the ocean, to end this wonderful adventure cantering on the endless beaches of the Landes region.

Day 1 - Sunday
Transfer from Bordeaux and arrival to Saint Jean Pied-de-Port. This city is a major stopover for the pilgrims on the Way to Santiago de Compostela, a designated Unesco World Heritage Site worth being discovered. Visit of  this old and famous city. Dinner in a restaurant in the middle of the historical part of the town. First night in the hotel at Saint Jean Pied-de-Port.

Day  2 - Monday

Saint Jean Pied de Port or Saint Etienne de Baïgorry  to Banca according  to  the weather. Departure at 10am.  The goal is to get to the top of the of Monhoa summits to get a magnificent 360° view of the surroundings and the valley of Aldudes. Night in a typical mountain cottage.

Day 3 - Tuesday
Banca-Urepel. Departure at 10 am. We climb to the summit of mountain Aragaï for our first 360° view point of the day. We ride from pass to pass, observe the birds, ride among wild herds of pottock horses and talk about the history of the region. After a picnic and siesta in the wild, we start riding in spanish territory, in "Quint" coundtry. Arrival to Urepel around 7pm, picturesque village of the valley of Aldudes. Dinner and night in a hotel.

Day 4 - Wednesday
Aldudes-Banca. Departure at 9.30am. We ride in the deep and narrow valley towards Eyharza pass. We arrive in Harguibel (992m) were we stop for lunch while enjoying the view around 1pm. In the afternoon, we travel between the french and spanish border in a deep and untouched forest. The horses stay in the mountain for the night and the riders get transferred to the hotel (15mn drive). Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 5 - Thursday
Departure at 10am towards Elhorrieta pass. Discovery of the "Cromlech", a stone circle, remnant of the Bronze Age. We enjoy the last 360 ° view point of the trip and ride among ponies herds in total freedom. We stop at the pass of Ispéguy and eat lunch in a  typical restaurant called "Benta". Then we go on a thrilling descent by the path of the smugglers towards Saint Etienne de Baigorry. We cross the city on horseback and we finish the mountain trail  by tasting some Basque wine before getting transferred to Lesperon (1h drive).

Day 6 and 7 - Friday & Saturday
You have 2 days to discover the treasures of the Landes region, the hugest  Forest of Europe and the vast beaches of the west coast. Enjoy exciting gallops on white sand or forest paths. The ride ends on Saturday night, at around 7.30pm with the sunset on the beach (depending on the season). Dinners will be taken in two different restaurants specialized in gourmed cuisine and Landes gastronomy. Nights in the same hotel/cottage.

Day 8 - Sunday
After breakfast, transfer back to  Bordeaux airport or station before 1pm.

Horses and riding level


Our horses are mostly Anglo-Arabs. Many of them were born at the farm. They are used to living in herds and to trail riding. They are lively, safe and well-balanced.

We use English tack. You cannot come with your own saddle. Saddlebags are provided so you can take your small personal belongings on horseback during the day.

Riding experience
This trek is really exciting and requires real fit intermediate riders confident at all paces and able to ride 6 to 7 hours everyday over varied and sometimes challenging terrain. All the opportunities to trot or to canter offered by the landscape are taken.
There are a few places on the trail where the path is very difficult and the riders have to get down and walk next to their horses.

Useful informations
-Mawimum weight : 95kg.
-You must wear a helmet on this trail ride. Helmets can be lent directly at the farm.

The local team

Our trail rides are supervised by guides who have a diploma for guiding trail rides.
They perfectly know the area, and love it, so it will be a pleasure for them to help you discover the region!

A support vehicle will move the luggage from accommodation to accommodation, and will join you for picnic lunches.

Accommodation in cottages or one or two-stars hotels.
each room has a private bathroom.

If you travel alone and you agree to share your room, you will be in double twin room with another rider. Single room are availbale on request.

Lunches are packed lunches taken outdoors in a relaxing atmosphere, often followed by a short siesta. Lunch and dinner are made from typical products from Pays Basque and prepared by the staff of the accommodations.

Language: English / French speaking guide.

Group size: 4 to 8 riders.

Closest airport / train station:

Pick up at Bordeaux airport at 2pm (Meeting point in Hall A). On day 1, transfer is organized at 2pm and before 1pm on day 8.
