Périgord is famous in the whole world for its traditional cooking, and food products such as foie gras or duck "confit"... This stationary ride will take you to the most remote parts of this region, but also to Rocamadour, the most famous historical site on the pilgrim routes to Santiago del Compostella (French : St Jacques de Compostelle).

You will stay in a comfortable 2 star country hotel in Gourdon during 6 nights, and one night in a 2 stars hotel in Rocamadour. Gourdon is a central site that enables many different and interresting rides in the whole region.

This stationary ride is also ideal for non-riders, as they can discover the rich cultural hertiage of the region, even joining riders for picnic lunches.

St Chamarand

SATURDAY : At 4:00 PM, arrival at the riding center. You are welcomed by your hosts, and discover your guide, the horses and the itinerary. Traditional dinner at the riding center, night at the Cordeliers hotel.

SUNDAY : For our first riding day, we will cover 30 km. We will ride up to the Causses (limestone plateaus) and have lunch at the Toulas belvedere. Back to the riding center for dinner.

MONDAY : Following the Dordogne river, we discover the wonderful Nadaillac de Rouge castle, still inhabited by the owner's family. This castle has very nice stables. Picnic lunch, and we go back to the riding center for dinner.

TUESDAY : Today, we ride towards Saint Chamarand (see picture) to discover two very nice small villages : Saint Romain and Saint Clair. In the afternoon, we ride through Le Vigan and its beautiful abbey-church built in the 15th century.

Riders have to be confident at all gaits, aged 12 and more if children are with their parents. You will ride between 5 and 6 hours a day, covering around 30 km each day.
