Why ride with us ?

CORSICA : MOUNTAINS AND SEA HORSE RIDE...

This beautiful horseback trail will make you discover the high summits of Corsica and the wild and hidden beaches of the Island of Beauty. On horseback, you'll cross Boziu region with its sheep herds and its wild pigs. Various landscapes, mix of smells from chestnut trees, amazing vegetation... A splendid erosion created strange rocks, and very impressive paths, where you'll have to trust your horse.

RIDE ITINERARY

Day 1 - Saturday
Meeting to Bastia Airport or Bastia port. Transfer to the riding centre in Corte (1h drive from the airport and 1h30 drive from the port). Welcome dinner to the guesthouse, introduction to the ride and night in bungalow or guesthouse.

Day 2 - Sunday
After a morning breakfast, meeting point is given at 8:30 am to the stables. We prepare our horses for our first ride. Today, the steps of our horses lead us in the scrub land where we have a picnic lunch (carried on our saddlebags). We get back into the saddle and leave near cortenais villages. Then, we return in the guesthouse for the dinner and night.

Day 3 - Monday

This morning, we prepare our horses for ride on the heights overhanging the banks of the river Tavignano, Picnic lunch at the old hill. After some bathings in the river, it is time to follow our ride till we reach the hostal for the night at Sortipiani. Dinner and night.

Day 4 - Tuesday

After breakfast, we get into the saddle and begin our ride leading us to Antisanti village for the lunch. In afternoon, we go on shadowy paths under cork oak trees towards the sheepfold where we stay for the night. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5 - Wednesday

After the breakfast, we canter through our wineyards towards seaside. The lunch is served on the beach. Free adternoon at the beach with horses if possible. At the end of the afteroon, we go back to the accomodation, go on path accross wineyards. Dinner and night in guesthouse.

Day 6 - Thursday

Our route begins with an ascent towards the Valley. We discover typical images and atmosphere of Corsica : maquis and wonderful forest, rocky path... The route ends at Pinaellu refuge. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7 - Friday

Our last day on horseback leads us on a ride through Boziu. In this pastoral region, we leave on the meeting of the free herds... We discover typical images and atmosphere. Then, we reach the charming small village of Maïto. We return then in the shelter for the dinner and at night.

Day 8 - Saturday
After breakfast, transfer to Bastia airport or Bastion port.

Important : The route is communicated as a rough guide and can be modified without advance notice for safety reasons, of meteorology or accessibility. However, we shall make all the necessary efforts to preserve the interest of the route if modifications must be brought.

HORSES, TACK AND RIDING EXPERIENCE

Horses Our riding base also is a riding school, which guarantee you well trained horses. The most part of horses are robust and strong Corsican horses. Some Merens horse also are available. Horses often are compared with sheep because of their secure feet in very uneven ground. You'll have to walk down on some hard tracks.   Tack We use Corsican saddles, and Mac Lellan saddles. Saddlebags are provided.   Recommended riding level To join this trail, you have to be comfortable at all paces in open spaces, even if the most part of the ride happens in the mountains and the principal pace is walk. We will ride about 30km a day, 5 to 6 hours in the saddle. A good stamina is necessary. If you're more than 90kg weight, please consult us before booking.

Useful information

Children are welcomed from 12 years old if accompanied by an adult, or 14 years old if alone.

This ride is perfect as a first experience of trail ride.

YOUR GUIDES

Guiding

This trail is guided by an experienced and qualified guide. He leaves all year long in Corsica and knows this region better than everyone else. He'll make you discover is own Island of Beauty .

Logistic

Our support vehicle will join you every evenings with your luggage and sometimes during lunch time.

Maximum luggage weight : 20kg.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation

This trail is set in a particularly wild environment, but with comfortable accommodations in guesthouse, shelters (dormitory) during the low season. In july and August, you'll spend 4 nights in bivouac under tent (nights 3, 4, 6 and 7). The first and last nights will be spent in bungalow or shelter in Corte.

Take your sleeping bag with you anyway.

Meals

For lunch, picnic will be taken from saddlebags. Dinners will be hot meals. You'll have the opportunity to taste local specialties (cooked pork meats, cheeses and local alcohols).

GENERAL INFORMATION

Meeting point to Bastia airport or Bastia port.

Transfers are organized from the airport or the port as follow : 1 shuttle is planned and go to Port and Airport, on 05.00pm at the airport and on 05.30pm at the harbor.
The last day, you'll be drop back after breakfast at 9.00am, and will arrive at the airport on 10.00am and 10.30am at the harbor. You can take a flight leaving on 12.00

HEALTH

There are no specific health formalities and emergency medical treatment is as widely available in the country.

ENTRY FORMALITIES

A valid passport is required of all foreigners entering France, except people living from a Schengen agreement country for who a valid ID card is enough.

All foreign citizens who wish to come to France must be able to present regulatory proof of the purpose of their stay, means of support and accommodation. In some cases, they need a visa to enter France. Visas must be applied for before leaving for France at a French consular office.

France is a member of European Union. No visa is required for citizens of other EU states.

No visa is required for US visitors staying less than 3 months.
