LIMOUSIN - Short horse ride in Corrèze - Western style

The department of Corrèze is located in the region of Limousin and is the ideal place for beautiful horse rides in the middle of a preserved nature.

This region is full of singular and preserved natural sites. You will ride between rivers and falls, through bogs and forests, and a thousand of paths running across millennial landscapes... This is idyllic scenery to get initiated to western riding or for an itinerant riding tour in full nature if you are an advanced rider.
Corrèze ride Millevaches - RIDE IN FRANCE

DISCOVER WESTERN RIDING OR NOVICE RIDERS

Day 1
Arrival in late afternoon at the equestrian farm. Then, you go in your accommodation. You have a first contact with the environment and dinner in a guest table to better know your guide and the other riders.

Day 2
We start our week-end by getting to know how to prepare our horses and how to put the horse’s western equipment. Your guide picks up horses for each of you. Then, we have a first Western lesson in the closed ground. When everybody feels at ease on horseback, we have our first riding trail outside. In the afternoon, we ride on a loop in the Monedieres Massif in undulating paths, up to the Col de Lestards orientation table. Today, we ride through breeding grasslands, undergrowth beech trees or douglas trees, alongside bogs and multicolored lands. We are here to discover the Millevaches Regional natural Park typical landscapes. On the way back, we can have a stop at the Col des Géants Gallo-Roman site. We ride back to the equestrian farm in late afternoon. Dinner and night there.

Day 3
Today, we ride in the heart of the Monedieres massif, to better know these natural landscapes, typical in this region: the bilberries, heather moorlands and holly beech woods. From one valley to the other, we circumvent the Puy Baladour and ride on the Suc au May up to the orientation table. If the weather is good, we can also discover the Millevaches Plateau, the Sancy Massif and the Cantal Mountains located in Auvergne. The path leads us to wonderful moorlands and beech wood located in a Natura 2000 zone. We ride back to the equestrian farm, and after having groomed our horses for the last time, and after a last drink, everyone say goodbye from 6pm.

(The itinerary can be adjusted. The second riding day can includ two loops with lunch at the equestrian farm)

ITINERANTE RIDE INTO THE MASSIF OF MONEDIERES

Day 1
Arrival from 5pm at the equestrian farm. Then, you go in your accommodation. You have a first contact with the environment and dinner in a guest table to better know your guide and the other riders.

Day 2
We start our stay with a half-day of introduction to our approach of ethology and western riding. Your guide will explain you and pick up the right horse for you. Then, you get to know how to prepare our horses and how to put the horse’s western equipment, before having a first Western lesson in the closed ground. The morning can end up on an outside ride. From the first day, we ride from alveolus to alveolus, from a small valley to another to feel the quiet atmosphere and typical Monedieres landscapes. In the afternoon, according to what riders prefer, we can ride on the paths to the House of Land in the village of Chaumeil (we can bring some local products in our saddlebags), or in the opposite direction to the Col des Géants Gallo-Roman site.

Day 3
Today, for the second loop, we ride towards the south of the Monedieres Massif, through varied rural landscapes to discover villages with thick granite walls, typical in Millevaches Regional Natural Park. The saw-tooth roofs, sometimes still covered with straw, will intrigue us! After a picnic with our horses by the pond, we ride on undulating side roads. In the afternoon, we turn off to the north to get closer the main water holes and reach the equestrian farm.

Day 4
For the last day, we ride in the heart of the Monedieres massif, to better know these natural landscapes, typical in this region: the bilberries and heather moorlands. We have our lunch break alongside the Ganezande pond, a treasury of the nature nestled under the Massif. Then, we circumvent the Freysselines Circus and ride on the Suc au May. If the weather is good, we can also discover the Sancy Massif and the Cantal Mountains located in Auvergne! To ride down to the Monediere organic farm, where they highlight market gardening, limousine sheep breeding and wild bilberries harvest. We ride back to the equestrian farm and groom our horses for the last time before leaving around 6pm.
