PROVENCE - From Lubéron to Camargue on horseback

A real horse trip that will take you from the Provencal mountains of the « Luberon », across Van Gogh’s hills « Les Alpilles », and to the Mediterranean sea, into the famous Camargue region, land of flamingos, black bulls and white horses.
From limestone hills to swamps, enjoy riding among Camargue horses, bulls and pink flamingos. We end the riding tour by galloping on the beaches...

Horse riding tour in Provence, from Lubron to Alpilles and Camargue - Ride in France

Day 1 - Sunday: Luberon

Meeting at Marseille airport or Aix-en-Provence train station, or directly at the departure point of the ride around 6 pm.
Welcome aperitif and presentation of the trail ride.
You will be introduced to your guide and spend a first friendly dinner at the «host’s table». Overnight in the guesthouse.

Day 2 - Monday
: Luberon
By the south hillside of Luberon, the pine trees, the cliffs landscapes, we ride down to the Durance and through it to have a delicious lunch alongside the River. After a long nap, we start the afternoon riding alongside the canal irrigating many of the cultivations in the valley and arrive in late afternoon at our horses’ stables. The riders are transferred to Mérindol, famous for the destruction of this former Vaudoise capital in 1545. Night in a guesthouse in Mérindol or exceptionally in the equestrian centre (depending on availability).

Day 3 - Tuesday: Luberon => Alpilles
This morning, we ride through the fragrant scrubland toward the Alpilles, a wonderful limestone massif where the white color of the cliffs contrasts with the green color of the pine trees. We arrive nearby Eygalières passing by the Saint Sixte Chapel. Night in a guesthouse under the Alpilles.

Day 4 - Wednesday: Alpilles (Baux de Provence) => Camargue
Through the Alpilles and the pine forest paths among the cicadas, we ride to discover Van Gogh landscapes: nearby the Saint-Paul monastery where he was interned and the Roman arc in Glanum. We have a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, we enjoy nice views on the Alpilles crests before discovering the Baux de Provence shape. Visit of the village and transfer in minibus up to Camargue region. Night in a guesthouse.

Day 5 - Thursday: Camargue
Today, we make a loop riding circuit up to the "Grand Radeau" pine trees and beaches. We notice our horses’ astonishment when we cross the "Petit Rhône" on a boat. We cross vast areas of swamps among birds, before arriving in a wild pine tree forest which extends up to the sea. We have a picnic on the beach and ride back to the Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.

Dinner in a restaurant in the village and night in a guesthouse.

Day 6 - Friday: Camargue

We spend the morning on the beaches and ride back to the hotel to have lunch alongside the imperial ponds. In the afternoon, we ride to Méjanes alongside the Vacarès pond with its pink flamingos, grey herons, Camargue white horses and bulls. Transfer in minibus up to the equestrian centre. Dinner and night in the Mas.

Accommodation
We suggest you an accommodation switching between dormitories and guesthouse with 2 or 3 single beds. All of them have clean rooms and a bathroom. You can also choose to pay an extra charge for having the guesthouse during the entire riding tour, shared by same sex riders, with 2 to 3 beds. For the couples we guarantee double bedrooms and an individual bedroom (with the guesthouse option only) can be chosen with an extra charge to pay on the spot.
For the basic formula (dormitories/bedrooms), you won’t have any extra charge.

We select our accommodation according to their beautiful setting and friendly atmosphere for riders to enjoy a pleasant stay.
