RIDE ITINERARYAROUND THE MONT SAINT MICHEL BAY - 2 days
Day 1 - saturday Meeting point at Genêts in the early morning around 9:30 to pick up the horses. The morning is dedicated to the discovery of the coast from Dragey to Saint Jean le Thomas.... beach and dunes. It is the opportunity to get familiar with our horse and to figure the seize of the bay and the stake of its crossing. Back to the riding center for lunch. In the afternoon we cross the bay, heading towards the Mont Saint Michel. The crossing is done at slow pace because the sandy ground of the bay is too soft to galop safetly. We stop at the bottom of the fortification and let our horses the time to visit the site. Dinner and night in a guesthouse near Courtils. Day 2 - sunday Today we head towards Genêts through "Les herbus", an area covered with salty grass used as pastures for sheep. Picnic lunch between the old "Pontaubault" bridge and "Gué de l'Epine" ford. From "Roche Torin", a site known for birdwatching we can see the "Groin du Sud" point that we will pass by the end of the afternoon. End of the trail around 6 PM when we are back at the riding center. Note : Our horses are used to that trail and stay quiet in most situations. Nevertheless you should tell us your horse level and experience in order to be given the right horse. With a group of beginner the itinerary might have to be shortened and the pace slowed. This itinerary correspond to an afternoon low tide. In case the low tide is in the morning, the two days are permuted. The bay crossing can only be done from april 22nd to october 22nd and if our guide thinks its safe. LANDSCAPE OF THE BAY - 2 days Day 1 : Saturday Meeting point at the stables to pick up our horse. Starting at "La Gahonnière" allows us to disover the See valley, the See being one of the three rivers flowing into the Mont Saint Michel Bay. We follow the valley through green rolling hills, woods and pastures. It is a quiet area with warm local people. By noon we reach the shore and stop near the old "Pontaubault" bridge for lunch. It is an historical bridge that the enemy never managed to destoy during the second world war. We are now riding on "Les Herbus", an area covered with salty grass and surrounded by black and white sheep. We head towards "Roche-Torin", the final destination for today. Dinner and night at a nearby guesthouse. Day 2 : Sunday Meeting point at 9:30 AM to pick up our horse. This mornig we head towards the Mont Saint Michel. We cross the bay on dry land by "les herbus". We stop at the bottom of the fortification and let our horses, the time for uus to visit the site. We can take more time as we don't have to wonder about the high tide coming. After the visit, picnic lunch near "Beauvoir" on the banks of the Couesnon river. In the afternoon we are back on the shore and heading to Courtils where our trail will end around sunset. Transfer back to the riding center for both riders and horses. End of the trail around 6 PM. Note : Our horses are used to that trail and stay quiet in most situations. Visit of Brion Castle, an old priory which used to be owned by the Mont Saint Michel monks. It is now a private property. After the visit we head towards the Mont Saint Michel. The crossing is done at slow pace because the sandy ground of the bay is too soft to galop safetly. We stop at the bottom of the fortification and let our horses. Guided visit of the Mont. Picnic lunch near Couesnon or Beauvoir, depending on the tide. By the end of the afternoon we reach Coourtils. Dinner and night at he guesthouse. Day 3 Today the ride is on the Brittany side of the bay. We cross the salty grass pastures on our way to "Sainte Anne" Church. We ride on the top of the dikes built to create ploders where fruits and vegies are cultivated. They offer us a great view over the Bay. Lunch near the church. In the afternoon we ride through Cancale natural harbour and its breedings of oysters. Dinner in a restaurant and night in a guesthouse. Day 4 Today the landscapes are going to be diffrent as we realy are in Brittany and no more in Normandy. We are going to experience the high cliffs of French Brittany and the beaches of Emerald coast. Picnic for lunch at Duguesclin beach. Then in the afternoon we ride around Cancale Peninsula towards the city of privateers, passing by realy impressive view points. We end the day in Saint-Coulomb, near Saint-Malô. Transfer back to the riding center for both riders and horses. End of the trail around 6 PM. Note : Our horses are used to that trail and stay quiet in most situations. There are no specific health formalities and emergency medical treatment is as widely available in the country.
ENTRY FORMALITIES
A valid passport is required of all foreigners entering France, except people living from a Schengen agreement country for who a valid ID card is enough.
All foreign citizens who wish to come to France must be able to present regulatory proof of the purpose of their stay, means of support and accommodation. In some cases, they need a visa to enter France. Visas must be applied for before leaving for France at a French consular office.
France is a member of European Union. No visa is required for citizens of other EU states.
No visa is required for US visitors staying less than 3 months.
